What gear do real HYROX athletes rely on? We asked 45 members from our community.
Choosing the right gear for HYROX can make a real difference on race day. We surveyed 45 members from the Resilience Fitness community — athletes who've competed at HYROX Toronto, Houston, and beyond — to find out what they actually wear and use. Here's what came back.
The most important piece of gear for HYROX. You need a shoe that can handle running AND functional stations. Most of our athletes opt for a hybrid trainer or a dedicated HYROX-specific shoe.
A belt can make a big difference on the sled push/pull and farmers carry stations. Many of our athletes wear one for race day even if they don't train with one.
Wall balls and sandbag carries can tear up your hands, especially late in the race. Gymnastics grips or lightweight gloves are popular in our community.
Comfort and range of motion over everything. You're running 8km and doing 8 functional workouts — you need gear that moves with you.
Don't overlook race day fuelling. HYROX takes 60-90 minutes — you'll want to come in fuelled and stay on top of hydration.
"The right gear won't make you fast — but the wrong gear can slow you down. Prepare like a professional."
